Voice Chat
Proximity voice in Arcadia, how nearby voice and whisper range work, and the party voice menu.
Arcadia has proximity voice chat, powered by Simple Voice Chat. Talk out loud to the trainers around you, and the closer they are, the clearer you sound. It is completely optional: nobody is ever forced to turn on a mic, and the whole game plays fine in silence.
New today
Voice chat is new to Arcadia at launch. If you want it, it is already installed through the launcher, just set your input device and start talking.
How nearby voice works
Voice is positional. You hear other players based on where they are in the world:
- Trainers within about 48 blocks come through at normal volume, fading with distance.
- Switch to whisper mode to drop your range to about 24 blocks, for a quieter word with whoever is right next to you.
Walk away and a conversation fades out naturally, walk up to a group and you join it. It makes towns, gyms, and events feel alive.
Party voice anywhere
Sometimes you want to talk to your friends across the whole region, not just the people next to you. Press V to open the voice group menu, where you can form or join a group and talk to everyone in it no matter how far apart you are. Great for coordinating a legendary chase or building together.
Settings and mic setup
Simple Voice Chat has its own settings, reachable from its key bind (open the voice menu and choose settings). There you set your microphone and speaker devices, adjust volume, and pick between push-to-talk and voice activation. If you have never used it before, check that the right input device is selected first.
Your choice, always
Voice chat is opt-in. Leave your mic off and you lose nothing, all the game’s information still comes through text and on-screen. Mute individual players from the voice menu if you ever need to.
