Cobblemon Basics
New to Cobblemon? Catching, breeding, TMs, raids, Wonder Trade, the PC, and type matchups in one place.
New to Cobblemon? This is the quick orientation. Arcadia layers its own progression on top of Cobblemon, the Sigil ladder, Mega Evolution, Legend Trials, but the core Pokemon-style gameplay underneath works the way you would expect.
Catching
Throw a Poke Ball at a wild Pokemon to try to catch it. Your odds go up when you:
- Lower its HP. The weaker it is, the easier it is to catch, so soften it up in battle first without knocking it out.
- Apply a status. Sleep and paralysis in particular make a catch far more likely.
- Use a better ball. Balls come in tiers (Poke, Great, Ultra, and specialist Apricorn balls), and the higher tiers hold better. Buy them from the Poke Mart with Grit.
Every catch also builds your combo and your lifetime catch total, which feed rewards and your level cap.
Battling and type matchups
Battles turn on type effectiveness: water beats fire, fire beats grass, and so on. In Arcadia the battle UI shows you the matchup, so you can pick the move that hits hardest without memorizing the whole chart. Team building around types is how you win gym fights, which are fought at a flat level.
The PC and your boxes
Your PC stores every Pokemon beyond your party of six. Reach it at the terminals linked to the PC around towns, or open it with the key bound to your Badge Box and menu (see Joining Arcadia). Deposit, withdraw, and organize your collection there.
Breeding
Arcadia runs a breeding system: pair compatible Pokemon and hatch eggs to pass down moves, natures, and strong IVs. It is how you build a truly competitive team over time. Breeding supplies are stocked in the Grit shops.
TMs
TMs teach moves. Use them to round out a Pokemon’s move set, cover a weakness, or set up a strategy for gym battles and Legend Trials.
Raids
Raid dens spawn tougher Pokemon that you take on with other trainers. They are a group activity and a source of rewards, so keep an eye out and jump in when one appears near you.
Wonder Trade
Wonder Trade sends one of your Pokemon off to a random other player and sends you theirs in return. It is a fun gamble, you never know what comes back, and an easy way to fill in Pokedex gaps.
