Privacy Policy
Last updated July 16, 2026 · Effective July 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Arcbound (“Arcbound”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the Arcbound Minecraft network, the Arcbound launcher, the website at arcbound.org, our web store, and our Discord community (together, the “Service”), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We tried to keep this plain and honest rather than dense.
Arcbound is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with Mojang Studios, Microsoft, or the Pokemon Company.
1. Quick summary
- We collect the minimum needed to run a Minecraft network: your Minecraft username and UUID, basic technical and gameplay data, and purchase records.
- We use Microsoft sign-in to confirm you own your Minecraft account. Your Microsoft password is never seen or stored by us.
- Store payments are handled by PayNow. We never receive or store your card number.
- The website does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Contact us at [email protected] for access or deletion requests.
2. Information we collect and why
2.1 Your Minecraft identity
- Minecraft username and UUID. Provided by Mojang/Microsoft when you sign in. We need it to identify you in-game, apply your ranks and cosmetics, deliver store purchases, run leaderboards and moderation, and let you gift purchases to another username.
2.2 Microsoft sign-in (authentication)
Arcbound uses Microsoft OAuth so you can prove you own your Minecraft account. During sign-in, Microsoft returns authentication tokens (a Minecraft access token and a Microsoft refresh token). What actually happens:
- On your own computer: the launcher stores these tokens locally on your device (in your Arcbound launcher data folder, with restricted file permissions) so you do not have to sign in every time. They stay on your machine.
- Passed through for verification: at first sign-in the launcher may send your Minecraft access token once to our system so we can verify the token with Microsoft/Mojang and link your install to a creator/referral code if you used one. We use it to verify and derive your account identity; it is processed to deliver the Service and may be retained only as long as operationally needed for that purpose. We do not build a store of your Microsoft tokens for other uses.
We never see, set, or store your Microsoft or Mojang password. We cannot log into your Microsoft account.
2.3 Launcher technical and diagnostic data
To keep the launcher and game working and to diagnose crashes, the launcher may send the following to our admin system (panel.arcbound.org):
- Identity with the event: your Minecraft UUID and username (crash and error reports may be sent even before sign-in, to diagnose launch failures).
- Launcher and content versions: launcher version, modpack version, Electron version, release channel.
- A per-install ID: a random identifier created once per installation, used for acquisition/creator attribution without needing your account identity.
- System and hardware information: operating system and version, CPU model and core count, total and free RAM, RAM allocated to the game, GPU name(s), free disk space on the game drive, Java version, screen resolution, whether the Visual C++ runtime is present, and the number of installed mods.
- Session and gameplay-technical data: launcher-open events, game-end events (exit code, session length in minutes), and how many times you have launched.
- Crash and error diagnostics: exit codes, crash type, and excerpts of crash logs and game log tails (truncated), plus records of automatic self-heal actions the launcher performed (for example, repairing a corrupt mod or adjusting RAM).
Why: to fix crashes and install problems, keep the mod set healthy, understand which hardware needs support, measure how the launcher is performing, and (via the per-install ID) credit the creator who referred you.
2.4 Server-side data (while you play)
When you connect to our game servers, standard server operation involves:
- Your username and UUID, your gameplay state, progression, in-game economy balances, cosmetics owned and equipped, and moderation records (mutes, bans, notes).
- IP addresses may appear in server logs and may be retained as part of normal server operation. They are used for connection handling, security, anti-abuse, and alt-account/ban enforcement, and are kept only as long as operationally needed for those purposes.
2.5 Purchases (store)
When you buy from the store:
- You provide the Minecraft username that should receive the items (and, for gifts, the recipient’s username).
- PayNow processes the payment as Merchant of Record and handles your card and billing details directly. We never receive or store your full card number or bank details.
- We receive purchase metadata from PayNow (for example, that a purchase completed, which product, order/transaction references, and the delivery username) so we can deliver your items and keep purchase records. PayNow may also share limited details such as a buyer email or country for receipts and tax; where we receive such fields they are processed only to deliver the purchase and keep the records the law requires.
The store website keeps your shopping cart in your browser’s local storage on your device. The store also sends anonymous funnel counters (page open, product viewed, checkout started) to our own system to measure the purchase flow. These funnel events do not use cookies and do not include personal information.
2.6 Discord
If you join our Discord or link your Discord account to Arcbound, we (and Discord) process your Discord user ID and username and the messages and roles associated with your participation, so we can run the community, support, roles, and any linked perks. Where a Discord account is linked to a Minecraft account for perks or verification, the Discord ID may be associated with the Minecraft UUID for that purpose. Your use of Discord is also governed by Discord’s own privacy policy.
2.7 Website
The website (arcbound.org) does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers (such as Google Analytics). It uses your browser’s local storage only for functional things like your shopping cart.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- operate the servers, launcher, store, and community,
- verify Minecraft account ownership at sign-in,
- deliver and manage ranks, cosmetics, currency, and other purchases,
- diagnose crashes and fix technical problems,
- prevent cheating, fraud, chargeback abuse, and rule-breaking, and enforce bans,
- credit creators/referrals, and
- communicate about the Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only as needed to run the Service, with these categories of providers and parties:
- Microsoft / Mojang for authentication and to validate your Minecraft account.
- PayNow, our payment provider and Merchant of Record, for processing payments and taxes.
- Discord, if you use our Discord or link it.
- Our hosting and infrastructure providers, who run the servers and systems on our behalf.
- Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the Service, our users, or others.
We do not otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes.
5. Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed to run the Service and for legitimate operational, security, and legal reasons. Logs and analytics are retained only as long as they are operationally needed and are then rotated or deleted. Purchase records are kept as long as required for accounting and tax. Moderation and ban records are kept as long as they are useful for enforcement, including preventing ban evasion. Locally stored login tokens live on your own device until you sign out or clear the launcher data.
6. Children’s privacy
Arcbound is used by players of many ages, including minors. You must be at least 13, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if that age is higher, to use the Service on your own, and minors below the age of majority should use it only with a parent or guardian’s involvement (see the Terms of Service). Use of Minecraft itself by younger children is limited to what Minecraft and its own account rules permit.
We do not knowingly collect more personal information from children than is necessary to provide the gameplay itself (their Minecraft username and UUID, gameplay/technical data, and, if they purchase with a guardian’s permission, purchase records). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not build advertising profiles of any player.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, or you want to review or delete your child’s information, contact us at [email protected] and we will act on it.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email [email protected] from (or referencing) the account in question so we can verify it. We will respond as required by applicable law.
Note that some data is necessary to provide the Service. If you ask us to delete data we need to run your account (for example, your identity or active purchases), we may need to close or limit your access instead. We may also keep limited records where we are required or permitted to, subject to legitimate operational and legal needs such as ban-evasion records or transaction records for accounting.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information, including restricting access to systems and storing local login tokens with restricted file permissions on your device. No online service can be perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, note it through the launcher, website, or Discord.
